James
- Rift: Part II - Poem III -
Oh James,
If anyone could’ve saved my soul, it’s true,
I swore I didn’t need a hand to guide,
But I was cruel, I discarded you,
I killed the love that should’ve lived inside
I never bowed to ask for your reprieve,
The silence, heavy, weighted down with blame
I carved you out, though I could hardly leave,
And every care I bear still speaks your name
James,
The years have passed, but my shame does not decay,
It lingers deep in the shadows where I weep,
And if I could, I’d trade this life today,
To guard the heart, I failed so long to keep
Forgive me, James, for all I put you through,
I’m haunted by the truth I can’t rescind
If anyone could change me, it was you,
So let me hope we find out and start again
