May To June
- Betwixt: Phase III - Poem VIII -
In iridescent hues where my memories loom,
I remember our moments from May to June
Velvet clandestine beneath your walls,
Where we did innocent things, and all our barriers would fall
Beneath the moonlight sky,
After work one August night
We shared the backseat and lost our innocence,
The shadows crawled from the trees that witnessed
Refrain from our pulses, the blood ran thick,
Scratches there, shirts off like a magic trick
I remember it in the back of my mind vividly,
Do you still think of it earnestly?
You told me my body was like that of a god,
Were you for real or just a fraud?
I know every inch of yours, how warm it was,
How I’d sleep on it some nights just cause
November days where the seasons transfigure the weight of time,
March fell upon us when we were hot and teen-like
Those moments were so special to me, they made me into you,
Do you view them as casual flings or committed truth?
Will time erase every ember you enkindled in your blaze?
In three months, will light peak through this lavender haze?
Nevertheless, I’ll wear these moments like medals on a soldier’s chest,
And remember the nights we had under a half-baked crest
If chance deals reunion, what gloss will you choose?
Confessions, bright crimson, or a tactical excuse?
I carry your scratches, the pulse of your tunes,
And remember our time from May to June
